When it comes to your wedding day there can often be a lot of elements that you find tricky, and choosing your first dance song can be one of them. After all, it is an important part of the wedding reception so you want to make sure that you get it right. You also need to consider your taste in music so often the usual suspects you hear as first dance songs are just not going to cut it. There are a number of classics from Bon Jovi that could be appropriate for your first dance song but this one just feels extra special. The lyrics are all about showing appreciation for your other half which is very fitting for your wedding day. A slow and steady song so perfect if you are not a confident dancer. 

Thank you – Led Zeppelin 

“My love is strong, with you there is no wrong. Together we shall go until we die. My, my, my Inspiration’s what you are to me. Inspiration, look ‘n’ see”

Led Zeppelin is a great choice when looking for a rock song and this song Thank You is the ideal option when seeking out a more up-tempo song that you can still enjoy swaying to. A great option. 

All I want is you – U2

“But all the promises we make, From the cradle to the grave, When all I want is you”

A great option if you want a slower song. This is a lovely rock song to pick as it gives you the chance to sway along and slow the party right down while you have a quiet moment of reflection with beautiful lyrics in the background. 

You and Me – Alice Cooper

“But you and me ain’t no movie stars. What we are is what we are. We share a bed, Some lovin’, And TV, yeah. And that’s enough for a workin’ man. What I am is what I am. And I tell you, babe, Well that’s enough for me.”

This is a really low-key and down-to-earth song that would suit so many couples. It is all about knowing that the normal things in life are enough for a couple in love. It isn’t very up-tempo but it is the perfect song to sway along to. 

Nothing else matters – Metallica

“Never opened myself this way. Life is ours, we live it our way. All these words, I don’t just say. And nothing else matters”

Metallica is a band that many of you may be fans of, so this could be a great option for people who want to enjoy their music without it being overpowering for the big day. The lyrics are great and could resonate with any couple. 

Heaven – Bryan Adams

“Now nothin’ can take you away from me. We’ve been down that road before, But that’s over now, You keep me comin’ back for more. Baby, you’re all that I want. When you’re lyin’ here in my arms, I’m findin’ it hard to believe. We’re in heaven”

This is a classic Bryan Adams song, it is a little more up-tempo than some of the suggestions but still makes a great first dance song. The ideal lyrics and a tune many will know and be able to sing along to. 

Love will keep us alive – Eagles 

“Now I’ve found you. There’s no more emptiness inside. When we’re hungry. Love will keep us alive”

A slower song but one that many couples will be able to resonate with. This one is the perfect rock first dance song. 

Wild Horses – The Rolling Stones 

“No sweeping exit, Or offstage lines, Could make me feel bitter, Or treat you unkind. Wild horses Couldn’t drag me away. Wild, wild horses Couldn’t drag me away”

You can’t beat a Rolling Stones song, and Wild Horses is a great one for your first dance. It is recognisable and has a lot of sentiment in the lyrics. A great option to choose.
