Bridal showers are parties where gifts are showered on the new couple before their actual wedding day. A Weekend Away
Couples will be getting swamped with new small appliances and dish sets and decorative glass bowls at the bridal shower, so get them a gift that will stand out from the rest. After the honeymoon is all said and done and the couple begins their first year of marriage they will soon be eagerly anticipating their first year anniversary. Why not get them a weekend getaway for their anniversary that you book and purchase beforehand. If you know the couple likes the outdoors, book them a night at a woodsy cabin, or if they enjoy being pampered, book them a weekend at a bed and breakfast.
Club Of The Month Subscription
Many couples enjoy having the feeling of their wedding lasting throughout the entire year after they actually wed. Give them the gift that keeps on giving, so to speak. Enrol them in an “of the month” club, as in wine of the month, fruit of the month, or coffee of the month. The first year can be prepaid and this will give them the option to continue with the membership at a later date.
Scrapbook
Whether or not the couple already has scrapbooks, buying them a wedding-themed blank scrapbook and some wedding/honeymoon stickers and other scrapbook enhancements will inspire them to begin chronicling their lives together.
Digital Camera
If you are one of the bride’s or groom’s office workers or friends, get a group of guests together and chip in to buy the couple a digital camera for them to use on their trip. Digital cameras are a great gift as they allow the couple to take a picture and see it immediately. It will also make it easier for the couple to e-mail photos of their honeymoon or wedding to friends and relatives.
Spa Treatments
As the wedding approaches, hopefully things will easily fall into place for the couple, in terms of catering, gowns, tuxedos, limos and the like. However, as most married couples can attest to, usually something starts to go awry as the wedding date approaches. To help ease the couple’s stress, why not get the couple thirty minute or hour long massages. If money is not an issue, you can easily send the couple to a day spa to get these done. If you want to be more budget-minded, many massage schools offer reduced rate massages (sometimes as low as £20 for an hour long massage) if they are willing to get massaged by a student in training.
Everyday Essentials
The wedding couple will probably have enrolled in a gift registry so all their basics will be covered, like new plates, new glasses and new minor appliances. Instead of this, why not get the couple half a year’s worth of basic toiletries and cleaning products? In a galvanised tin or wicker basket (that can easily double as a laundry hamper), put together a smorgasbord of items like laundry detergent, fabric softener, anti-bacterial counter wipes, shampoo, conditioner, shower gels, lotion, carpet cleaner and the like.
