Country first dance songs

You’re still the one – Shania Twain

“You’re still the one I run to, The one that I belong to, You’re still the one I want for life”

A classic Shania Twain song and one that is filled to the brim with meaning on a romantic level. Shania Twain is a popular country singer, and this song is the ideal choice if you want that element of country music without it being too over the top. Plus many people know this song making it a great choice.

Amazed – Lonestar

“I don’t know how you do what you do, I’m so in love with you, It just keeps getting better. I wanna spend the rest of my life, With you by my side, Forever and ever”

Another great song choice and one that many people will know and enjoy. It is full of romantic song words and gestures making it a lovely choice for a first dance. Like with the Shania one, it is well-known and is also a slow song that you can enjoy swaying to.

The way you love me – Faith Hill

“Oooh, I love the way you, Love the way you love me, There’s nowhere else I’d rather be. Oooh, to feel the way I, feel with your arms around me.”

Faith Hill is a popular artist on the country music scene and there are a number of songs that you could pick. But the way you love me is one that I feel can say it all about a relationship and how you feel about the other person. It is a great choice for a first dance song.

Making memories of us – Keith Urban

“And I’m gonna love you, Like nobody loves you, And I’ll earn your trust, Makin’ memories of us. I wanna honor your mother, And I wanna learn from your pa, I wanna steal your attention, Like a bad outlaw”

This is a great choice as I think the lyrics really speak about how a relationship can be and progress with so many different parts to it. It is slightly more up-tempo, but still perfect to sway along to if you are not a confident dancer.

Joy of my life – Chris Stapleton

“She’s sweet to me, Must be the luckiest man alive. Did I tell you, baby, You are the joy of my life? First time that I saw you, Mmm, you took my breath away. I might not get to Heaven, But I walked with the angels that day”

This is a great first dance song and one that is more directed from the man to the woman than it is generic. Again it is a little more up-tempo than some of the other songs mentioned, but it isn’t one you have to move too quickly to. It is very sentimental and a great option.

God gave me you – Blake Shelton

“God gave me you for the ups and downs. God gave me you for the days of doubt, And for when I think I lost my way. There are no words here left to say, it’s true. God gave me you.”

Another lovely up-tempo number and one that you can enjoy dancing to. There are some lovely romantic lyrics in this one and it certainly has that more country music feels to it.

It’s your love – Tim Mcgraw and Faith Hill

“It’s your love, It just does something to me. It sends a shock right through me. I can’t get enough”

A great duet and perfect as a first dance song. It has all of those country music vibes and one that is perfect for both parties to sing along to each other. It is a little up-tempo but not enough that you can’t sway and just gaze into one another’s eyes.

I keep on loving you – Reba McEntire

“That’s why I keep on lovin’ you. I keep on lovin’ you. Through the baby don’t-leave-mes, And, never-will-agains, And I-promise-tos. I keep on lovin’ you”

A slower song and one that many couples are likely to relate to which makes this an ideal first dance song. Perfect if you can really relate to the lyrics.

Lost in the moment – Big & Rich

“Lost in this moment with you, I am completely consumed. My feelings so absolute, there’s no doubt. Sealing our love with a kiss”

Finally, another up-tempo number and one that many country music fans will love and recognise. This is a great tune and one the whole reception can get up and dance to.

I hope this has given you0 plenty of inspiration if you are choosing your first dance song for your wedding day.
