Weddings are expensive, and there is no hiding from that fact, so I can really understand why so many people are now researching ways to keep the cost down. However, there is a perception that budget means small, initiate, or perhaps means that you cut things out of your special day. But it doesn’t have to be. With that in mind, here are some of the budget-busting ways you can throw the wedding of the century.

Don’t stick to tradition

Don’t feel like you have to stick with tradition. You can go against the grain with things. It might be the rings, for example. You may have chosen a diamond engagement ring but want something different for a wedding band.

Wedding breakfasts with sit-down meals and choosing more informal options like buffets or street food trucks can be a much nicer way to enjoy food on the day without the big price tag.

Go all DIY

Maybe you want to save on some of the big costs, and that’s can mean being a little different with your wedding venue. You don’t need to stick with the standard and traditional wedding venues these days, you could consider things like a church and then a local village hall. A hall gives you a lot of space for not as a lot of money, and you have free reign to decorate how you wish. You could also do things like homemade decorations or invites to add a personal touch and keep the costs low.

Choose to provide some of the basics

If you do like the traditional setting for a wedding you can still keep the costs down. Instead of going along with the suppliers they suggest or recommend you could provide your own. From tablecloths to the bows that go on the back of the chairs, even things like the flowers or room dressing could be done by yourself or from a supplier you find. Often this can reduce the cost considerably.

Get your guests to be the photographer or videographers

There is a new trend that people are banning the use of mobile phones etc at their weddings to avoid spoiling the wedding pictures by having camera phones in them. However, people want to celebrate the day with you so instead why not encourage your guests to be the photographer and videographer for the day. Assign a few people to take some of the traditional snaps, and then just encourage guests to film and snap pictures. You may find that some of the once’s you guests snap to turn out to be the best. You could even edit the video footage people have captured to create your own wedding video.

Choose a weekday wedding instead of a weekend

Weekend weddings seem to have a big increase in price, so why not go against the grain and get married on a weekday instead? If you give your guests enough notice they are sure to be able to book time off from work and make arrangements. Doing this one thing could knock thousands off the price of the day. You could also get married out of the summer season and choose a winter wedding instead, which again can bring the cost down.

Let’s hope that this has inspired you to consider some of the ways you can throw the wedding of the century.
