With the popularity of paranormal activity and haunted places soaring over the last decade, finding a haunted destination is easy. The tricky part is finding a place that is truly creepy, yet accommodating. Do some online research before booking your honeymoon. Just because the place claims to be haunted, doesn’t mean you should part with your money without investigating first.

Now to the reasons why a haunted hideaway is an ideal honeymoon. A creepy setting is the perfect…cuddling atmosphere. As you wander around the area, you will find yourself holding hands more and walking closer together.

The other side is discovering some interesting and possibly terrifying historical facts surrounding the hotel and area. Honeymooning at a haunted destination can be quite the adventure, especially for people that are usually more skeptical about such things. Be sure to pack your camera and favorite stuffed animal.

Gypsy tour

This can be a really fun honeymoon adventure. Pack your bags, load up the car and hit the highway. Tour through towns you have never been through before but always wanted to. This trip hearkens back to the days of “The Mother Road”, Route 66 and a time when people took trips for the sake of discovering new places and faces. More or less, go where the road takes you and enjoy the scenery together. Actually stop along the way to smell the flowers and take in the sights. When it is time to head home, grab the atlas and plan your route back, that way you know you will actually be heading in the right direction. You will want to pay attention to where you are in order to not end up too lost. Also be sure to pack a current road atlas and make sure that your car is in good running condition. You will want to make sure you can afford this exciting excursion so you may want to create a sort honeymoon budget for fuel, accommodations and food. You may want to set aside some money for a few nice mementos along the way to commemorate your marriage and honeymoon travels.

Visit a Ranch

Cows, horses and open range may not sound very romantic to some couples, but give it a chance. Consider horseback riding through gorgeous scenery and exploring walking trails hand in hand. Picture sitting and watching the most beautiful sunsets either of you have ever seen. Imagine laying on a blanket together and gazing up at the star filled sky on a cool evening. There is just something about being together in all that glorious space and scenery that can bring out the romantic in anyone.

You will want to be sure to pack appropriate clothing for horseback riding and trail walking (jeans, hiking boots, etc). Also be sure to pack sunscreen, depending on the time of year. Most ranches that offer overnight accommodations also offer forms of entertainment like chuck wagon suppers and maybe even a western re-enactment or two. Do your homework before booking your trip to avoid any unpleasant experiences like not enough money or not packing the right clothing and accessories.

Deserted island

Yes, there are beautiful islands that are virtually off the radar as far as vacation destinations go. These are truly exotic and once-in-a-lifetime opportunities. All it takes to find them is some online research. These places offer luxurious accommodations, rich history and gorgeous tropical scenery. What could be better than having a an island almost completely to yourselves?

Island vacations can be very romantic and relaxing or invigorating, depending on your mood. They can also be expensive and even slightly unnerving if you are not a fan of large bodies of water. Plan your island honeymoon carefully and thoroughly to ensure the trip of a lifetime.

When planning your honeymoon, try thinking outside the normal and somewhat traditional. Think of mysterious for a hauntingly good time or wide open spaces for a ranch-style trip. There are so many options just waiting to be discovered; all it takes to find them is a little research and an open mind.
